Carderock Signs Partnership and Education Agreements

A commemorative signing ceremony took place on January 24, 2011, to formalize the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division’s (NSWC Carderock) agreements with three Montgomery County, Maryland, business and education entities. For the first time in Montgomery County’s history, a partnership intermediary agreement (PIA) was signed with a leading federal installation, NSWC Carderock. Education partnership agreements (EPAs) were also signed between NSWC Carderock and the Montgomery County Public Schools and Montgomery College.

Present at this historic signing ceremony were Montgomery County Executive Isiah Legget; Montgomery County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Jerry Weast; Montgomery County College Interim Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Services Paula Matuskey; NSWC Carderock’s commanding officer, Captain Chris D. Meyer; as well as other business, local government and federal agency representatives.

The ceremony was held at Montgomery County’s newly launched Federal and Academic Technology Transfer Welcome Center, which was created to encourage awareness and partnering between local businesses and the county’s 19 federal labs. Launched in September 2010, the Center was created to highlight technology transfer resources available from the county’s federal laboratories either through the Center’s innovative portal or from brochures and materials that detail the laboratories’ respective technologies and testing facilities.
