Pacific Northwest National Laboratory researchers fabricated ultra-high conductivity copper and aluminum wires that are 5 percent more conductive than regular copper. Fabrication is done using the specialized technology, Shear Assisted Processing and Extrusion (ShAPE™), developed at PNNL. The new material will be used to develop motors that can be used in the transportation industry.
