The FLC Awards annually recognize federal laboratories and their partners for outstanding technology transfer achievements. Winning an FLC award involves a detailed submission and peer-based judging and is considered a prestigious honor within the federal lab community.
Most of the awards handed out each year recognize teams of individuals from federal labs and their partner organizations. The Awards Program also includes categories for individuals who are tech transfer professionals or who support federal technology transfer in other ways.
Only employees of FLC member labs are eligible to submit an awards application. However, because of the collaborative nature of technology transfer, winning teams represent collaborations between federal labs and partners from industry, academia, nonprofit, or state and local government. In addition to tech transfer professionals, team members might include scientists, researchers, engineers, manufacturers, distributors, and economic development experts who work alongside them to achieve their goal of creating available technologies that benefit society, the economy and national security.
