Increased environmental and occupational, safety, and health regulations in the United States and Europe have impacted production and use of chromates, cadmium, and other chemicals in aerospace and defense surface treatment processes. As a result, there is increasing need for environmentally benign alternatives that meet or exceed the performance requirements.
This ASETSDefense (Advanced Surface Engineering Technologies for a Sustainable Defense) virtual workshop will cover all aspects of alternative coatings and surface treatments, with emphasis on performance, service data, approvals and implementation of clean coatings.
General sessions include:
* DoD Corrosion Policy, Issues, Solutions
* Depot perspectives and Mission Readiness
* Accelerated Corrosion Testing and Tracking
* OEM Technology Development
* Additive Manufacturing and Repair
A technical poster session will foster one-on-one discussion of projects funded by SERDP-ESTCP, CPO, ONR, SBA, and other commercial and defense organizations. Side meetings will be held on topics of specific-importance to attendees for detailed discussion of the performance and implementation of new technologies.
As in prior workshops, the goal of ASETSDefense 2020 is to exchange information between Department of Defense repair facilities, weapons system manufacturers, research organizations, and chemical and coating formulators concerning options, performance, and implementation of alternatives.
