To promote greater use of existing NIH- and DOE-supported bioimaging facilities and movement of imaging technologies from non-biological fields into biomedical research applications, the National Institute of General Medicine Sciences (NIGMS) is partnering with NIH’s National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) and the DOE to sponsor two informational webinars for researchers who use high-resolution (sub-nanometer to micrometer) bioimaging technologies on samples from atoms to cells.

The objectives of the webinars are to:

* Describe DOE and NIH bioimaging facilities and data management strategies
* Describe opportunities to promote movement of imaging technologies from non-biological fields into biomedical research applications
* Promote greater use of existing NIH and DOE supported bioimaging facilities

In parallel, the agencies are soliciting information from the research community about unaddressed research needs through a request for information, which is scheduled to be published in mid-March.

The next webinar, scheduled for April 15 at 1:30 pm Eastern time, will focus on bioimage analyses, data management, and knowledge capabilities.

The first webinar, held on March 11, focused on advanced bioimaging capabilities (EM, X-ray, and light microscopies) and how to access the DOE- and NIH-supported national centers and instrumentation. Recordings will be archived and made available on the NIGMS website at a later date.
