Lab Showcase: Meet the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory: Powering Possibilities for a Clean Energy Future

  Virtual

Join this Lab Showcase on March 25 at 2 p.m. ET for an in-depth overview of the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL)'s fascinating progress toward a clean energy future.

Featured Initiatives: Microelectronics and Sustainability Sciences - In the area of microelectronics, this talk will discuss the key role of plasma in the fabrication of computer chips and PPPL’s role in advancing next-generation tools such as in-situ diagnostics and modeling. The Lab’s role in sustainability will also be covered. PPPL is driving new initiatives in electro-manufacturing, replacing fossil-fuel driven thermal processes with electrically driven ones, including plasma-assisted catalytic production of clean hydrogen.

Featured Technology: Confocal Diagnostics in Microelectronics - This session will focus on novel techniques in plasma spectroscopy, particularly the application of structured light beams. The technology enables the measurement of plasma kinetics in challenging environments and holds potential for broader diagnostic applications, including the microelectronics industry.

Featured Startup: Stellarex - The Chief Technology Officer of Stellarex, one of PPPL’s first spinout companies, will discuss the company’s efforts to advance fusion technology through a stellarator configuration paired with innovative developments in high-temperature/high-field superconductors.
