The Opportunity Project (TOP), an innovation program within the U.S. Census Bureau, champions the idea that working with government can be collaborative, groundbreaking, and even fun. Over the past 5 years, TOP has brought together hundreds of people from around the nation and world to create life-changing technology, driven by real people and powered by open data.
This year our Earth-themed sprints focused on natural and built environment challenges, in collaboration with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), US Department of Agriculture, Office of Management and Budget (OMB), the State Department, Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Wilson Center, USA for United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and more than 300 sprint participants. We’ll feature 35+ new tools -- our biggest year yet -- created through the sprints, and the launch of the TOPx toolkit for federal agencies.
