Use of Uncrewed Aerial Systems at the Alaska-Pacific River Forecast Center

This Virtual Alaska Weather Symposium will discuss the uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) program started by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Alaska Pacific River Forecast Center (APRFC) in 2019.

Senior hydrologist Jessica Cherry will describe missions flown thus far and types of applications well suited for helping the National Weather Service (NWS) provide its core services. We will also discuss the advantages and challenges of 'in-sourcing' this technology to NWS.
