Join speakers from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and National Science Foundation (NSF) for a virtual two-day conference co-hosted by the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI), West Virginia University, and the XLerator Network. Learn how to propel your research into the next phase with the help of grant-funding and a chance for one -on-one time with experts. This conference will be held over Zoom for two consecutive half days on June 23rd and 24th from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. ET each day.

Day one will kick off with a presentation from the NIH SEED Office, to cover basics related to the small business grant program. Next, several program officers from NIH Institutes and Centers (NHLBI, NCI, NIA, NIGMS, NIAID, NCATS) will give short overviews about their institutes’ scientific priorities, funding opportunities, and relevant programs. Next, XLerator Network will present programs and resources that are available to small businesses and academic researchers in Southeastern IDeA states.
During the remaining time on day one you will have the opportunity to meet one on one with NIH program staff for 10-15 min to discuss proposal ideas. You must pre-register for a time slot using the Calendly links which are provided in the confirmation email once you register for the event.
The second day will kick off with a presentation by the National Science Foundation (NSF) that will provide an overview of the NSF small business program as well as the Partnerships for Innovation program. Next, the remainder of the NIH program officers (NINDS, NIBIB, NIAMS, NIDDK, NIDA) will give short overviews about their institutes’ scientific priorities, funding opportunities, and relevant programs.
Lastly there will be a panel discussion with representatives from SBIR/STTR-funded companies to discuss their experience and benefit from these funding opportunities.
Day two will conclude with additional one on one meeting time with NIH program staff. You must pre-register for a time slot using the Calendly links which are provided in the confirmation email once you register for the event.
