Notice is hereby given that the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, intends to grant to CogniTek Management Systems, Inc. 4132 Cove Lane, Suite A, Glenview, IL 60025, an exclusive license to U.S. Patent No. 10,239,905, “LOW TEMPERATURE AND EFFICIENT FRACTIONATION OF LIGNOCELLULOSIC BIOMASS USING RECYCLABLE ORGANIC SOLID ACIDS,” issued March 26, 2019; U.S. Patent No. 10,494,489, “LOW TEMPERATURE AND EFFICIENT FRACTIONATION OF LIGNOCELLULOSIC BIOMASS USING RECYCLABLE ORGANIC SOLID ACIDS,” issued December 3, 2019; and U.S. Patent No. 11,479,914, “FRACTIONATION OF LIGNOCELLULOSIC BIOMASS USING MALEIC ACID AT LOW TEMPERATURES,” issued October 25, 2022; and all related foreign patent applications.

Supplementary Information:

The Federal Government’s patent rights in this invention are assigned or licensed to the United States of America, as represented by the Secretary of Agriculture. It is in the public interest to so license this invention as CogniTek Management Systems, Inc. is in the process of entering into a CRADA with the USDA Forest Service inventor to bring the application to practical use. The prospective exclusive license will be royalty-bearing and will comply with the terms and conditions of 35 U.S.C. 209 and 37 CFR 404.7. The prospective exclusive license may be granted unless, within fifteen (15) days from the date of this published Notice, the Forest Service receives written evidence and argument which establishes that the grant of the license would not be consistent with the requirements of 35 U.S.C. 209 and 37 CFR 404.7.
