Name of License: Notice of Intent to Grant an Exclusive License for a U.S. Government Co-owned Invention

Laboratory:

On: Jul 31, 2024

Summary:

: In accordance with 35 U.S.C. 209 (e) and 37 CFR 404.7 (a)(1)(i), announcement is made of the intent to grant an exclusive, royalty-bearing, revocable license in a field of use for U.S. Patent Application No. 63/362428, PCT/US2023/065301 titled “MONITORING SYSTEM BASED ON MULTIPLEXED SINGLE-MODE-MULTIMODE-SINGLE-MODE FIBER SENSORS” to Sensible Photonics Inc., 301 Grant Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219, USA. The Federal Government’s patent rights in this invention are assigned to the U.S. Government and co-owned by the University of Pittsburgh Of the Commonwealth System of Higher Education, as represented by the Department of Energy. The field of use for this prospective license is: “design, fabrication and commercial sales of optical sensor probes, interrogation systems and devices to be used for a range of sensing applications, including gas and temperature sensing, acoustic and vibration sensing, magnetic field and current sensing, corrosion sensing, high temperature sensing, and solution phases sensing, as well as application of advanced analytics including physics modeling, artificial intelligence, and machine learning with such range of sensing applications”.

The public will be served by the granting of this prospective license as indicated by Sensible Photonics’ intentions, plans, and ability to bring this invention to the point of practical application and promote the invention’s utilization by the public. This prospective license may be granted unless, within 15 days from the date of this published notice, the U.S. Department of Energy, National Energy Technology Laboratory (see ADDRESSES), receives written evidence and argument establishing that the grant of the license would not be consistent with the requirements of 35 U.S.C. 209 and 37 CFR 404.7.
