Rookie of the Year Award
Award Category Description
The FLC Rookie of the Year Award recognizes the efforts of an individual technology transfer professional who has demonstrated outstanding work, above and beyond what is expected in the normal course of their work. The nominee must be full-time and new to technology transfer, with three years (or less) experience in a federal technology transfer position.

Submission Criteria
All FLC Awards submissions must be submitted through the lab’s designated agency or laboratory representative.
- Describe the nominee and the nominee’s technology transfer position. Please specify the year the nominee began their federal technology transfer position.
- Describe how the nominee demonstrated exceptional service performing their responsibilities within their laboratory’s technology transfer organization over the past three fiscal years. Whenever possible, please use specific and quantifiable terms.
- Specifically identify and describe a single outstanding example of the nominee’s innovative approach to, or creativity in, addressing a technology transfer need. How did this example demonstrate mastery of technology transfer concepts? When possible, please provide quantifiable data/statistics and outcomes for this specific example.
- Specifically identify and describe the impact of the nominee’s exceptional service. Please provide quantifiable data/statistics and outcomes to help demonstrate the nominee’s impact.
Note: The judges will have a wide range of backgrounds and expertise. Accordingly, please use non-technical language to the extent possible and explain technical terms where needed. Use clear, concise language in all narrative descriptions.
