Former Air Traffic Controller and current U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) inventor, Teddy Lee received a patent in September for his methodology of "Predicting the Future Magnetic Alignment of a Runway." Working with ERDC’s Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory, he collaborated with senior research scientist Dr. Mihan McKenna Taylor to develop improvements that can be used to augment the World Magnetic Model when it exceeds accuracy requirements.
