The Trace Vapor Generator for Explosives and Narcotics (TV-Gen) is a portable and compact instrument designed to deliver a continuous source of trace-level vapors and vapor mixtures. The TV-Gen provides a tool to assist in the Independent Validation and Verification (IV&V) of new materials and sensors under development for explosives and narcotics vapor detection. Key features of the TV-Gen include the ability to generate vapors from thermally labile analytes, rapid switching between clean and analyte manifolds, a linear dynamic range of more than three orders of magnitude, and nebulization of analytes in water preventing interference from organic solvents.

The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) is the corporate research laboratory of the Navy and U.S. Marine Corps, conducting a broad program of scientific research and advanced technology development. The broad-based scientific research that NRL provides serves as the foundation to develop solutions and deliver new technologies.
