Researchers from Argonne National Laboratory and Cornell university have partnered to develop a catalytic method of transforming waste plastic into a new material that can be recycled repeatedly without loss of quality. The technology is specifically intended to address challlenges associated with high-density polyethylene (HDPE)—used widely for single-use applications like packaging and containers—which currently cannot be recycled without degrading the material.
