Description

Provides technical leadership and execution throughout the life cycle for air, ground, and surface electronic warfare (EW). Leads research and development (R&D), system engineering, acquisition engineering and logistics, test and evaluation (T&E), design verification, EW capabilities in the surface, air, and ground domains. Performs EW mission analysis in order to develop EW technical requirements for future capabilities including creating solutions that cross warfighting domains, services, and missions, providing EW enabling capabilities to EMW. Supports higher level combat system activities relative to the evolutionary acquisition strategy.

Unique features include:

The Electronic Warfare (EW) Complex is comprised of office, laboratory, and specialty test facilities. The complex is a Navy Center of Excellence for research and development, acquisition engineering, test and evaluation, and full life cycle engineering and management of Electronic Warfare Systems, Decoy Launching Systems and Infrared Countermeasures. Dedicated to tracking and analyzing threats to anticipate and meet next generation warfighter needs, the EW Complex supports multiple domains: maritime systems, airborne systems, and ground based systems. 

Specialized equipment includes mobile spectrum evaluation capabilities for electronic warfare signals;   a robust Live/Virtual/Constructive capability for hardware in the loop testing over networks; electronic attack clearances and test ranges allow outdoor open loop testing of systems and techniques in realistic ground planes;  several anechoic chambers enable testing of the latest high power EA systems; clean rooms for electronics testing and repair; and laser characterization equipment providing the capability to test and evaluate the optical and electrical parameters of virtually all image intensification, thermal imaging, laser, and other electro-optic (EO) systems.
