Description
The U-2 Federal Laboratory was established in accordance with Title 15 U.S.C. § 3710, 10 U.S.C § 2500, and AFI 61-301. The Lab has developed, and been approved by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to establish, the 20th Laboratory Accreditation Program (LAP) in the Federal Government – entitled, “Federal Warfare System(s) LAP.” As a direct result of these efforts, all testing Laboratories nationwide will soon be eligible to earn a Department of Commerce process accreditation (in accordance with the ISO/IEC 17025 and NIST Handbook 150) to perform System Integration Testing and Operational/User Acceptance Testing services in support of the warfighter. This accreditation standardizes the competence, impartiality, and operational consistency of future Federal Laboratories of this type in the U.S. Government.

The mission of the U-2 Federal Laboratory is to “Compress the time-to-field of advanced technologies at a speed relevant to the warfighter.” This mission is achieved through a vision to vertically-integrate a “Confluence of Warfighter, Developer, and Acquirer” under the same operational roof.
