Description

The Flight Dynamics Lab provides engineering support for flying qualities and flight controls research. The lab consists of real-time piloted simulation and engineering workstations for model development and evaluation andan extension of the engineer's desktop in order to support a "design-fly-redesign" cycle.

Asset List:

  • Generic Aircraft Cockpit
    1. LCD monitor provides the heads-down displays normally located in the cockpit (e.g. altitude and airspeed indicators)
    2. Powered control stick, rudder pedals and dual throttle controls provide force feedback to the piloted simulations
  • CASTLE simulation architecture with EA-6B airframe simulation
  • High-resolution Visual System
    1. Visual System of the aircraft on approach to landing
    2. One engineering station in the bottom left operates the simulation behind the cockpit in the center
    3. Provides 180 degrees of horizontal field of view
  • Test team data displays
  • Engineering Test Stands for hardware-in-the-loop simulations
