Description

The focus of the Modulated LIDAR lab is to study the combination of LIDAR and radar technologies for enhancing optical detection and identification in highly scattering media, such as murky ocean water, clouds/fog/smoke, and biological tissue. The lab is equipped with the tools necessary for evaluating and testing short pulse or modulated lasers (visible and IR), high speed optical receivers, and RF/microwave receivers.These tools include:Short pulse, high power lasersModulated CW lasers for detectorbandwidth measurements(1-60000MHz)High time resolutions streakcamera (<1ps) Test equipment covering thefrequency range of .001-40000:MHz.

The Modulated LIDAR lab is equipped to test and evaluate high speed optical sources and detectors and RF/Microwave receivers for a wide range of applications, including free space and fiber communications and laser radar.This unique combination of high speed optical and electrical components and test equipment can meet the needs of many commercial and defense oriented tasks
