Description

U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) is one of DoD's nine combatant commands and has several key roles in transforming the U.S. military's capabilities.

Headquartered in Norfolk, Va., the command oversees a force of more than 1.16 million dedicated men and women, spanning USJFCOM's service component commands and subordinate activities. The command is comprised of active and reserve personnel from each branch of the armed forces, civil servants and contract employees.

USJFCOM's commander oversees the command's four major mission areas:
  • Joint Concept Development and Experimentation
  • Joint Training
  • Joint Capabilities Development
  • Joint Force Provider

Mission

The United States Joint Forces Command provides mission-ready joint-capable forces and supports the development and integration of joint, interagency, and multinational capabilities to meet the present and future operational needs of the joint force.

USJFCOM with its component commands will respond to combatant commanders' operational requirements by providing timely and mission-ready joint capabilities. To accomplish this USJFCOM will become a harmonized force made up of soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and civilians who excel at joint warfighting.

Together with the service headquarters and our interagency and multi-national partners, USJFCOM will achieve unity of effort to maximize our joint strengths. Not only will we be instrumental in winning the global war on terrorism, USJFCOM will anticipate and prepare for the future demands of the National Defense Strategy.
