#2014FLC - National Meeting, Wednesday Preview

DConT2
Welcome back again to the third and final day of the 2014  national meeting, also known as Industry Day. If Monday was all about training and yesterday was focused on how we operate as federal T2 professionals, our program today focuses outward—on our network and impact with partners. Today's sessions are designed to help federal labs and members of industry connect and craft smoother collaborations. This includes discussion on how labs can work with industry, as well as information for industry about working with federal labs, plus networking opportunities to connect with potential partners. Then, this evening we'll celebrate the year's most successful collaborations with our awards banquet. You'll definitely want to hear Industry Day’s keynote speaker. Daryl Pelc, Vice President of Engineering & Product Support for Boeing Defense, Space & Security’s (BDS) Global Services & Support (GS&S), will discuss Boeing’s philosophy on pursuing technologies outside of the company in order to satisfy the needs of its own business units. He will also shed light on how Boeing has organized itself to pursue external technologies in a systematic and comprehensive manner, and present examples of Boeing partnerships and collaborations that have produced concrete results in meeting Boeing’s technology needs. This address will set the tone for the rest of the day—from an industry panel sharing the technology needs that federal labs could meet, to a slate of executives from government and industry discussing the challenges of working together, to a session on suggestions for innovative ways to partner with federal labs (with real-time brainstorming opportunities). The Industry Shares Technology Needs panel, in particular, will present a great networking opportunity. You'll get to hear about specific priorities at a series of companies and have the chance to discuss how you could work with the panelists. We have a number of spaces built in for networking throughout today's program, the most comprehensive of which starts at 4:30, and encourages mingling with members of industry, as well as our tech transfer stars from this year's awards program. In addition to sharing information and posters about their award-winning technology transfer projects, they'll be only too happy to discuss what makes a success—and hopefully discover some new possibilities! After that, we'll be recognizing those winners at the awards ceremony. You're in for a great presentation! Emcee Henry Wixon is an audience favorite, and all of our winners this year are really special. (Also, you'll find out who won this year's elections at the end!) We wish you a successful and productive Industry Day at this year's national meeting, and we're so glad you could join us this week! Hope to see you chatting with us on Twitter via the hashtag #2014FLC.
