FLC’s Robert Charles Receives Distinguished Civilian Service Award

Robert Charles Receives Award

Eight Defense Department employees received top departmental honors for their service, dedication and professionalism, including the FLC’s CRADA expert, Robert Charles.

Charles, of the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command, earned the Distinguished Civilian Service Award. The award recognizes DoD civilian employees whose service reflects exceptional devotion to their duty.

“Each nominee was evaluated on their extraordinary commitment to public service and demonstration of an inspiring degree of personal and professional ethics,” Anthony M. Kurta, undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness said. “Their contributions are notable because they have increased efficiencies and significantly improved operations within the department.”

Charles served as editor and contributor to several editions of the FLC “Green Book” and the T2 Desk Reference, and was the initial editor and contributor of numerous articles over the years to the Army’s Medical-Legal Deskbook. Charles designed and still teaches the FLC CRADA Workshop, one of the most crucial training courses for a T2 professional. Charles brings decades of legal and tech transfer experience to the Army and the FLC.
