Good Signs for S&T Budget? These Folks Think So.

By now, you’ve probably read all about the proposed budget for FY 2016. We came across this take on it and had to share.

"Many pundits give President Obama’s budget proposal little chance of passing in the Republican-controlled Congress...but at least one very important part of the budget is cause for hope: federal investments in science and technology innovation," write authors Steven C. Currall, Emily Hunter, and Sara Perry. "There are encouraging signs that America’s innovation ecosystem will get a bipartisan boost this year."

The authors cite recent successes in creating advanced manufacturing hubs, a growing desire to increase U.S. patents and reverse the "innovation gap," and effective programs like the I-Corps and the National Science Foundation’s Engineering Research Centers to make a case that the environment is ripe for focusing on collaboration—and that lawmakers of all stripes may be ready to get behind that concept.

So what do you think? Let us know in the comments!
