Cathodic

André Anders has developed a simple method by which a cathodic arc can be initiated without the need for a high-voltage trigger pulse. “Triggerless” initiation can also be used in vacuum arc ion sources, also known as Mevva ion sources. Berkeley Lab’s new “triggerless” principle has been used successfully with a large number of cathode materials. See also Advanced Macroparticle Twist Filter, Magnetic Expander and Homogenizer for Cathodic Arc Plasmas, IB-1484, and Miniaturized Cathodic Arc Plasma Source, IB-1497.
