Device For The Mechancial Testing Of Materials in Pure Mode II and Mixed Mode I/II Shear Loading

The device is able to load a material or joint in pure shear, and measure the strength, elastic modulus and shear to failure. It can characterize the exact mode of loading during the duration of the test, and is able to apply a mixed Mode I/II loading if desired. It is applicable for testing the strength of adhesive joints, solid state welds, spot welds as well as the interlayer strengths and fracture toughnesses of polymer composites. The device has been shown to work on all these systems.
