FLC Webinar: Principles of the U.S. Export Control System

The U.S. Government controls the export of commercial and less-sensitive military items through the Bureau of Industry and Security Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

This session will provide a framework for better understanding the national security, foreign policy, and nonproliferation-based controls in the EAR.

Learn to identify:

  • Which transfers are subject to these regulations
  • What constitutes a transfer
  • When prior authorization is required
  • How to go about getting that authorization
  • While the presentation is intended to cover the basic principles of the regulations, there will be time for Q&A to discuss recent developments in the export control arena, including the controls placed on Russia and the effort to identify and establish appropriate export controls on “emerging technologies.”
