As Fiscal Year 2027 begins, the Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer (FLC) is offering NIH technology transfer professionals several ways to showcase their work, strengthen professional skills, and connect with colleagues across the federal technology transfer community.

Innovation for Impact: A National Security Technology Transfer Forum: The first-of-its-kind event for national security T2 innovators and partners takes place from Dec. 1 – 3 in Leesburg, Va. Registration is open. You can secure a hotel room in their block at the government rate until Nov. 12 here, even if you choose a pay-later option at registration.

2027 FLC National Meeting: NIH professionals are encouraged to submit topics for the FLC National Meeting, scheduled for May 11–13, 2027, in Chicago. The Call for Topics is open through Dec. 8 and offers an opportunity to lead a session, share expertise, and help shape the federal technology transfer community’s premier annual event.

Ask the FLC Experts: Through the Ask the FLC Experts forum on eGroups, FLC members can ask questions and exchange practical advice with experienced technology transfer professionals, business experts, and colleagues across the network. Members can join the discussion at any time.

Licensing Executives Society Memberships: FLC members can now access Licensing Executives Society (LES) memberships at no cost to themselves or their laboratories. The FLC covers the membership fees, providing another opportunity to build licensing expertise, expand professional networks, and engage with the broader commercialization community.

FLC PRO™ Verification: Though applications are currently closed for FLC PRO™ (Professional Registered ORTA), they will re-open again in December. PRO is the only professional designation specifically for federal technology transfer practitioners. The designation recognizes professional experience, expertise, continuing education, and engagement in the field, helping practitioners demonstrate their qualifications to leadership, colleagues, and external partners.
