Lithium-ion Battery Fire Hazards in the Maritime Environment

The rapid adoption of lithium-ion batteries in the maritime sector – from cargo to all-electric vessels – presents new and complex fire safety challenges. As the regulatory authority for domestic commercial shipping, the U.S. Coast Guard is at the forefront of this issue.
