FLC Extends 2027 Awards Submission Deadline to Oct. 26!
Attention federal labs: You now have more time to submit your strongest work for federal technology transfer’s top honors.
The FLC Awards — the most prestigious honor in federal technology transfer — celebrate excellence in the industry, recognizing federal labs, partners, and employees for outstanding achievements in moving innovations from the lab to mission impact. The 2027 FLC Awards submission deadline has officially been extended to Mon., Oct. 26.

Submissions can be made in any of 10 categories:
- Excellence in Technology Transfer Award
- Harold Metcalf Service Award
- Impact Award
- Interagency Trans-Disciplinary Partnership Award
- Laboratory Director of the Year Award
- Outstanding Researcher/Small Research Team Award
- Outstanding Technology Transfer Professional Award
- Rookie of the Year Award
- State and Local Economic Development Award
- Technology Transfer Innovation Award
Many category descriptions were updated for the 2027 awards. Please make sure to thoroughly read each category description while creating submissions.
Awardees are chosen based on detailed submissions and peer-reviewed judging. The FLC Awards are only open to employees of FLC member labs, but winning teams often include collaborators from industry, academics, nonprofits, and state and local government.
These partnerships bring together tech transfer professionals, scientists, engineers, manufacturers, and economic development leaders, all of whom are working to turn federal innovations into technologies that strengthen the economy, enhance national security, and improve lives.
