DOE labs ease access to HPC systems for COVID-19 research

The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy on March 22 announced the Covid-19 High Performance Computing Consortium, a partnership that includes IBM, the Department of Energy (DOE) national laboratories, Alphabet Inc's Google Cloud, Amazon.com Inc's Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Corp. and others. 

Researchers from academia, government and the private sector will be able to submit coronavirus-related projects through a website. The machines to which researchers will have free, remote access include two of the world's most powerful supercomputers from IBM: Summit, at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), and Lassen, at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). Other consortium members include Argonne National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), Sandia National Laboratories, and NASA.
