DOE OTT compiles COVID-19 resources, asks for input

The Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Technology Transitions (OTT) is soliciting non-proprietary ideas for how OTT and the DOE can help National Labs and other innovators maximize their talent, workforce, and ingenuity in the face of the COVID-19 crisis. The request for feedback was part of a coronavirus update issued on April 7, in which OTT also outlined a list of resources that could benefit innovators during this challenging time. In addition to coronavirus-specific updates, the list includes funding opportunities, loan programs, and other business tools that are now available following the March 27 passage of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

"In pursuit of OTT’s mission to stimulate and grow the U.S. innovation ecosystem countrywide, we feel it is important to share with you, our stakeholders, some of the support available within this landmark package," the OTT Team wrote."OTT will keep a close eye on negotiations for further relief efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, and we hope to remain a resource, conduit, and proponent for the great assets of our National Labs."

OTT, which recently celebrated its fifth birthday, was established to expand the commercial impact of the DOE's research and development portfolio to advance the economic, energy, and national security interests of the US. OTT is responsible for data management and analysis, evidence-based impact evaluations, and stakeholder engagement. The office also oversees two major DOE initiatives, the Technology Commercialization Fund and the Energy Investor Center.
