Wolves are on the Endangered Species List. On Canada’s Ellesmere Island, just south of the North Pole, wolves cope with 24-hour darkness November-January and 24-hour daylight April-September. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) studies wolves on Ellesmere Island as it is the only place in the world where wolves are tame and biologists can observe their behavior up close. USGS, in partnership with multiple agencies, uses data from trackable radio-collars in the High Arctic to study wolf movements and behavior over the span of many years.
