FLC Executive Board Member Paige George Talks FLC-FedTech Partnership

March 23, 2026

In January 2026, the Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer (FLC) announced a strategic partnership with FedTech. The goal of the partnership is to tighten the bonds between private entrepreneurs and federal laboratories and researchers to better innovate and commercialize new technologies.

Paige George, FLC Facilitate Committee Chair and Technology Transfer Manager at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division, discussed the partnership on The Federal Drive with Terry Gerton, a Federal News Network (FNN) radio show and podcast.

George described the shared mission between FLC and FedTech and the long-standing relationship between the two organizations. She explained how the unofficial partnership evolved naturally over the years to culminate in this announcement.

George and Gerton’s discussion centered on how FedTech’s relationships with federal agencies could help the FLC’s member labs market their innovations. For instance, when the lab adds patented technology to the FLC Business database, they can then contact FedTech to help find a partner, organization, or person who is ready to build a business around that technology.

In the other direction, the FLC can share high-potential commercialization opportunities from federal laboratories with FedTech to find possible partners. FedTech can help accelerate the technology and walk a small business through the steps of developing the technology. FedTech has national accelerator programs, like Crucible, that can help innovations coming out of the federal laboratories. The FLC can also connect the business with scientists and researchers to collaborate and help develop the technology.
