The Floating Inspection Sensor Elevator (FISE) is primarily used to inspect deep or remotely located structural piles safer and cheaper compared to conventional diving or via other remotely operated vehicles, while maintaining inspection quality. FISE also provides an RDT&E test platform for underwater inspection sensors.
A patent has been filed for FISE, and active discussions are ongoing with potential industry and private investors with intentions to employ and license the technology, Fiscal Year 2025 funds plan to employ the system for developing high-frequency (HD) sonar pile scanning capabilities, and modifications are planned for a cargo-plane shippable version.
For deep water structural pilings, the FISE system significantly reduces costs while improving safety over conventional human diver methods.
