ShipTech 2020 is cancelled

The leadership of the Office of Naval Research (ONR) has made the difficult decision to cancel the biennial ShipTech 2020 conference. This judgement was made because of the increased national concerns about the novel coronavirus known as COVID-19. The conference was scheduled to take place on 26-27 March 2020 in Charleston, SC.

Over the past two weeks, ONR leaders have constantly monitored communications from the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding health risks related to COVID-19. In addition, during the past week, a number of ONR’s partners and several confirmed speakers have canceled their participation because of travel restrictions. Bottom line, given the current circumstances, the organizers believe this decision is the responsible action in order to protect its members and partners, as well as their families and communities, and to ensure the quality of ShipTech.
