USDA ARS-Led Team's Gene Editing-Tech Produces First Calf Resistant to Major Virus

Scientists from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service and partners from academia and industry have collaborated to produce the first gene-edited calf with resistance to bovine viral diarrhea virus, which costs the U.S. cattle sector billions of dollars annually. A vaccine has been available for 50 years but is not always effective in preventing transmission.
