In the mountains of the Atacama Desert in Antofagasta, Chile, lies the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA), a radio telescope co-operated and co-maintained by the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) of the United States, the European Southern Observatory (ESO), and the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ). Completed in 2012, ALMA has made a plethora of exciting and interesting discoveries.
