Description
The Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology facility located at Benet Laboratories utilizes a 3kW fiber laser and metal powder to repair, or build, solid metal components. AM adds solid metal one layer at a time to build or repair the part. The glove-box provides the ability to perform builds in an inert atmosphere, below 10 ppm oxygen. Two independent powder feeders offer the ability to produce Functionally Graded Materials to tailor the component to its function rather than to the material on hand. Currently we have over fifteen materials available ranging from aluminum to tungsten.
