Three officers of the US Air Force who are finishing up one-year educational assignments at ORNL will present overviews of their experiences and will share highlights of their individual career experiences as a pilot, a test pilot, and a test engineer.
About the Webinar:
Since 2002, ORNL has hosted 54 military and civilian defense personnel for temporary one-year assignments as part of its military education and outreach program.
“The program exposes military officers to national laboratory capabilities and research processes that can benefit the country and the military as these leaders move onto future assignments,” said David Landguth of the National Security Sciences Directorate, who has managed the program since 2012. “Many researchers here at the lab have enjoyed mentoring the Air Force, Navy, and Army officers who come on these assignments. The lab benefits from learning about current research gaps faced by the military and from connecting with the next generation of military leaders.”
Interim Associate Laboratory Director J.D. Stauffer of the National Security Sciences Directorate is the executive sponsor for the Laboratory’s military education and outreach program.
