Accelerating artificial kidney development is possible in the near term — but bringing breakthrough innovations to market will require crossing the chasm between research and commercialization. In this webinar, experts will address the unique challenges of funding, development, collaboration, and regulatory considerations in the medical device and artificial organ space.
Following a moderated discussion, the speakers will participate in a live Q&A. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask the KidneyX team general questions as the competition enters the final weeks of Phase 1.
Speakers include:
* Jeff Dunkel, Chief Strategy Officer of Government, Regulatory, and Strategic Initiatives, Mindset Medical
* Vinit Nijhawan, Managing Director, MassVentures
About the Competition
37 million Americans and more than 850 million people worldwide live with kidney disease. Current treatment methods have not changed significantly in more than 60 years and cost the U.S. more than $100 billion per year.
The Artificial Kidney Prize seeks to accelerate the development of continuous kidney replacement therapies that provide transformational treatment options beyond current dialysis methods. Entrants are encouraged to address one or more priority topic areas; however, the competition remains open to solutions that advance artificial kidneys in other ways.
Success in the Artificial Kidney Prize will require a breadth of expertise, and KidneyX encourages entrants to consider collaborating with each other or expanding existing teams. The KidneyX solver community brings together experts in blood filtration, regenerative technologies, sensors, and more. Members will receive regular updates with the full list of solvers and their contact information.
