NextGen Flying Lab Can Make Your Flight Smoother

FAA FlightLab

FAA engineers at the William J. Hughes Technical Center’s NextGen Flying Laboratory monitor the collection of flight data from the next-generation of airborne collision avoidance systems being designed for air transport and unmanned aerial vehicles.

These systems are engineered to lower alert rates and minimize the severity of avoidance maneuvers while maintaining compatibility with existing traffic alert and collision avoidance systems. FAA laboratory aircraft are used to characterize the electromagnetic environment and verify avionics system performance within the National Airspace System.
