NREL’s Perovskite Ink for Solar Cells

Dept. of Energy

National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) researchers have developed a perovskite ink with a low boiling point that allows “paintable” solar cells. This ink could unlock a future in which solar cells can be printed like newsprint. This manufacturing technique could significantly increase the number of solar cells produced every year.

NREL advances the science and engineering of energy efficiency, sustainable transportation, and renewable power technologies, and provides the knowledge to integrate and optimize energy systems. The Lab’s goal is to minimize the use of energy, materials, and water while carrying out its mission, and takes pride in its world-class research, talented staff, sustainable campus, and results that positively impact our local, national, and global communities.
