PNNL’s User-Friendly License Lets Companies “Test Drive” Technologies

By signing a two-page agreement and paying just $1000, U.S. companies can test drive promising technologies through a new, user-friendly commercialization option offered at the Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL).

The new exploratory license gives companies six months to try out a technology before deciding whether or not to pursue a full license so they can create a product with the technology. The license can be completed in five days. In contrast, standard technology transfer license agreements can be tens of pages long, cost tens of thousands of dollars, and take months to negotiate.

To see eligible technologies, search PNNL’s patent database at 1.usa.gov/2798PKi and look for technologies marked with a lightning bolt icon. Learn more at http://goo.gl/UeoaI9.
